It was a brisk Saturday morning as Carlito and Marcus loaded up the truck, litteraly, to the sky with 30 kids bikes. By God's grace they made it the 50 blocks down into the woodlawn area where the grill was already firing hotdogs in bulk. That afternoon the Dream Center, youth ministry outreach organization, hosted their first bike rodeo. This was Organized by Marcus, Nick Sims (Safe Routes to School) and Kay Moore (Dream Center Manager). After everyone ate their share of hotdogs and chips the raffle began. 30 Kids were drawn and got to pick out their own bike. It was amazing! So many happy kids. After this Nick took over, trying to rodeo 30 kids through a bike obstacle course is not easy. Towards the end you could see swarms of 8 boy bike gangs circling the blocks like a scene from Mad Max. At the end of the day it was all worth it though! Dream Center covered the cost of all the parts and threw in a little extra to help cover RC's cost on the bikes; and Nick donated all his time to this great event.
Cheers to both Nick and Kay, and their Organizations! Couldn't have done it without you.Click on the picture to go see our facebook album of the event.
